Eddy's Tinnitus Awareness Week Diary - Day 2...

I'm more of the Groucho Marx opinion that I wouldn't be a member of any club that would have me as a member...but one day, through the marvellous Head Gardener of The Secret Garden Party, a festival I help curate, and the best music and arts festival in the UK, I was given a membership to Quo Vadis, in Soho. I never regretted it, in fact it's become my favourite haunt, a refuge, a lovely place to catch up with a friend or colleague, have a meeting, or go for a posh lunch or dinner, their restaurant is top notch.

Quo Vadis have been wonderfully supportive of me, and the hair-brained schemes I come up with to raise money or awareness for the BTA. They offered the club as a spill over from Dean Street Studios when we recorded Cage Against The Machine, just before Christmas, and again yesterday, let me use the club to launch Tinnitus Awareness Week there.

We had members of the press come in to talk to me and David from the BTA about tinnitus, what it is, how to deal with it, and treat it, we had people come in for free advice and lots of DJs, musicians, and just people who go to gigs a lot or are exposed to loud music because of their jobs.

We need the government to realise that this is something which needs funding to find out exactly what it is, so that a cure can be found. There are so many interesting new approaches, but the point everyone is missing is that we still don't know, fully, exactly, what tinnitus is, and until that happens, we're nowhere near finding a cure. This can't go on.

More tomorrow.
