How you can help!

Last updated on 06 February 2012

If you would like to raise awareness of tinnitus, there are many ways to do this and they don't just have to be during Tinnitus Awareness Week.

As an individual you could:

  • Take a copy of the Ten Top Tinnitus Tips for GPs to your doctor the next time you visit
  • Display a poster in your local library, shop or at work to let people know about the BTA (the poster is available to download from this page or you can request one to be posted out to you)
  • Arrange an event or get sponsored for something to raise funds for tinnitus research

As a tinnitus support group you could:

  • Arrange for your members to take copies of the Ten Top Tinnitus Tips for GPs to their doctors on their next visit
  • Invite a GP or GPs to your meetings so they can find out more about how you help people wih tinnitus

As a hearing professional you could:

  • Have an information display in your waiting area or display a BTA poster in the hospital or practice where you work
  • Put a copy of the Ten Top Tinnitus Tips for GPs in with the patient report you send back to your patients GP or include some details about your tinnitus services so that the GP knows what is available
  • Arrange to go to a GP meeting to raise awareness of tinnitus and inform on how to support patients from the outset, tell them about the services available at your tinnitus clinic
  • Plan a tinnitus awareness event and invite GPs to attend so that they can be better informed about what is available locally

Let us know what you decide to do and we will do what we can to help. You can contact the BTA by phone on 0114 250 9933 or by email at info@tinnitus.org.uk, we look forward to hearing from you
