Leave a gift in your will
Last updated on 28 October 2011
Leaving a gift in your will is a great way for people to help others, with a final legacy that can have lasting benefits - most of our research is funded by legacies we have received.
As a charity, any bequest you make to us is exempt from Inheritance Tax, so all of your gift benefits others. You don't have to make a new Will, a codicil can be added to your current one. If you are interested in helping us in this way, please contact the BTA on 0800 018 0527 for advice - it is important that any bequest is properly worded so that it is used as you intended.
In lieu of flowers
Another popular way of supporting the BTA is to ask for donations to be made to the BTA in lieu of flowers.
Many people ask friends and family to make donations to the BTA instead of sending funeral flowers. These donations can be made tax efficient if we have the appropriate gift aid declarations.
This service is often managed by funeral directors, if they are informed of the intention by family or if funeral arrangements are made in advance.
