Amanda Arruda Lima, an MSc Psychology student at Leeds Trinity University (LTU) is investigating the impact of nurses’ work environment on their general wellbeing and hearing function.

Studies have shown that the challenges of nursing mean that more than half of the nurses who work in clinical environments suffer from some degree of burnout. High levels of stress and occupational noise combined have also been shown to increase the risk of hearing dysfunctions, such as tinnitus, by more than 40%.

It is hoped that this research might contribute to understanding the nature of nurses’ jobs and finding interventions for people with tinnitus and hearing loss.

Who can take part?

Nurses registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), from any clinical area.

What is involved?

A confidential and anonymous online survey, which should take no more than 15 minutes. The deadline is 31 December 2022.
