A 90-minute webinar delivered by Dr Sarah Michiels discussing what TMJ is; what the symptoms are; how it affects tinnitus; how it is diagnosed and what treatments are available. This webinar will also include a Q & A with Sarah.

The session will cover:

  • What is temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ) and what are the possible symptoms?
  • How does the TMJ affect tinnitus?
  • How can TMJ problems be diagnosed and are there treatments available?

How will the webinar be delivered?

You will require internet access, we will be using Zoom Webinar. A camera and microphone are not required, you will be able to submit your questions using the Q & A function.

Who will be delivering this session?

Dr Sarah Michiels

Dr. Sarah Michiels graduated in 2005 as a Master in Physiotherapy from the University college Antwerp and obtained an extra Master in Manual Therapy in 2008 from the Free University of Brussels. In 2015 Sarah defended her PhD on neck related tinnitus complaints at the Univeristy of Antwerp. Afterwards, she continued her tinnitus research, with a focus on jaw related tinnitus complaints. Recently, Sarah was appointed a position as assistant professor in musculoskeletal rehabilitation at Hasselt University in Belgium, where she will continue her research on somatic tinnitus. Additionally, she continues her clinical work in the multidisciplinary tinnitus team of the Antwerp University Hospital, where she is responsible for diagnostic assessment and treatment of patients with somatic tinnitus complaints.
