Aims and objectives of the day

The overall aim of this training day is to provide a basic understanding of tinnitus and its management. The learning objectives cover:

  • An explanation of what tinnitus is, the causes and triggers
  • A basic understanding of how psychology is used in the treatment of tinnitus
  • Information on complementary therapies and devices that are available at present which can help people manage their tinnitus more successfully
  • Benefits of running tinnitus support groups in your area
  • Facilitating challenging support group conversations
  • Information on help and support that can help you to work effectively with tinnitus patients.

Target audience

This course is targeted at audiologists, hearing therapists and social workers supporting tinnitus patients in HSCNI. Other professionals are welcome to attend.

Fee

This course is free to the target audience. Places on the course are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment. Please note: Although places are free on this course cancellation after Friday 25th August will be invoiced at £100 per person.

David Stockdale (BTA) and Dave Carr (BTA) will be facilitating this course with additional contributions from Jean Scott (Irish Tinnitus Association) and Action on Hearing Loss (to be confirmed).
