Meeting highlight

Wednesday 3 April 2024

We have a group member Lisa Davenport, who will be talking about her experience of living with and managing pulsatile tinnitus; she is going to share her tinnitus journey.

Group member and speaker, Sandra Nichol, will be talking through an exciting opportunity to take part in a research project on sharing experiences of tinnitus through the arts.

The project is supervised by Dr Marie Thompson (Open University) and aims to develop resources to help members of tinnitus groups share their experiences of tinnitus through the arts.

Key questions of the project:

How can art activities be used by people with tinnitus to share their experiences?

Can art activities enrich understandings of tinnitus, and the diverse ways it affects listeners?

How might engaging in art activities about tinnitus be beneficial to members of the tinnitus community?

What is required from the group?

  • Attendance at at online meetings to discuss the project
  • Deliver a trial session during a regular meeting
  • Take part in a trial session next Autumn – group members needed to participate
  • Provide feedback

What do you need to do?

At this stage, it would be great if we could get an an idea how many members are interested in taking part in a trial session next Autumn. Workshop activities can be discussed at a later date but could include – drawing maps, writing, drawing or recording sounds.

It would be great if our group members could contribute to this research project and develop resources that can be used by members of Tinnitus groups in the future.
