When the group meets

On the following Saturdays, Gather for 10.00am for a 10.30am start. Meeting will finish at 12:30pm.

  • 16 February: Five Years on...what happened after the Tinnitus Priority Setting Partnership Nic Wray, BTA Comminications Manager & Editor of Quiet magazine 
  • 13 April: The use of CAR (Cortisol Awakening Response) as a Biomarker of distress in people with tinnitus, Dr Andrew Jackson, Associate Principle Lecturer, Leeds Trinity University
  • 15 June: Tinnitus: How we think, react, sleep and relax make a difference? Claire Gatenby, Chief Hearing Therapist, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital
  • 21 September: Learning about Ménière's, Laura Fulco, Administration and Groups Liaison Officers, Ménière's Society
  • 16 November, Self-Help session & Bring and Share Brunch, Facilitator: Rachel Knappett

2018 Programme

  • 17 February: 'Music as Therapy' with Peter Shearer, Petrapeace
    Peter plays music that helps access the right/creative side of the brain, which can prove therapeutic for those who live with various disorders, including tinnitus. He will illustrate some relevant case studies as well as bring examples of his music.
  • 21 April: Faradena Afifi is a Tai Chi Chuan teacher, community musician and massage therapist, so her talk should prove interesting!
  • 16 June: Tinnitus and Hypercusis projects with Dr Kathryn Fackrell (NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre) and Jess Williams (MSc student)
  • 15 September: Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction with Elinor Brown, Grow Mindful
  • 17 November: Self-help session and Bring & Share brunch -  This month the group hosting its annual self-help session, where we have the opportunity to share our thoughts about tinnitus with others in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Rachel Knappet, Head of Adult auditory Rehabilitation at Addenbrookes and committee member will help guide the session. This will be combined with our ever-popular Bring & Share Brunch, to which you are invited to contribute, but is not a requirement for attending!
