March 2016 update

Dr Martine Hamann at the University of Leicester is working to identify a possible tinnitus gene using microRNAs (small biological molecules present in all human or animal cells).

If a gene can be identified, this research could pave the way for pharmaceutical treatments and a better understanding of tinnitus.

This one year project began in summer 2015 and cost £39,857. Generous grants totalled £27,000 and the remainder was funded from BTA general research donations.
