Why hearing protection is important

Your hearing is fragile.

Naturally, over time, you may experience hearing loss, just as you may find your eyesight changes.

However, experiencing tinnitus and hearing loss due to not protecting your hearing is undoubtedly something you will regret.

Often the phrase “If only I had known” is relayed down a helpline call or via an email to us.

Protecting your hearing is not only important, but it’s also essential because once damaged, your hearing can’t be fixed, and tinnitus from exposure to loud sounds can be prevented.

Reading our advice on sound levels and exposure times here, will give you a better understanding of what is and isn’t safe, and you can find out more about what sorts of earplugs might be suitable on our Plug’em website.

Tinnitus is the perception of noises in the head and/or ear which have no external source, it is often described as buzzing or ringing in the ears. The British Tinnitus Association's vision is a world where no one suffers from tinnitus.
